Cholera Outbreak: NCDC Reports 1,307 Suspected Cases and 34 Deaths in 16 Weeks

 The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has reported a troubling spike in cholera cases, with 1,307 suspected infections and 34 deaths recorded across 16 weeks in 2025.

According to the NCDC, the outbreak has affected over 30 local government areas in 12 states, with the most impacted states including Bayelsa, Zamfara, Abia, Cross River, Bauchi, and Katsina.


The agency has urged the public to prioritize hygiene, drink only safe water, and seek medical attention immediately if symptoms like diarrhea and vomiting occur.
