Tragedy in Delta: Hotel Manager Confesses to Murder of Young POS Operator

In a deeply shocking revelation, the manager of Century Home Hotel in Owhelogbo, Delta State, has confessed to the gruesome murder of 22-year-old Point-of-Sale (POS) operator, Onoriode Bethel. Her disappearance in December 2024 had left her family and the local community in anguish for months—until a breakthrough came in March 2025.

According to Delta State Police spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, the suspect, identified as Iboirode, lured Bethel to the hotel under the guise of settling a financial dispute. Bethel had earlier accused Iboirode of stealing N10,000 from her through a fake bank alert. Although she managed to recover the money, the confrontation reportedly bruised Iboirode’s ego and he sought revenge in the most horrific way.

Once inside the hotel, Bethel was murdered in cold blood. Iboirode then buried her body within the hotel premises in an attempt to cover up the crime. In a chilling turn of events, he used her phone to contact her father, demanding a ransom. He also forced Bethel to reveal the password to her POS account and withdrew money from her device before taking her life.

His wife, unaware of his true intentions, initially believed Bethel had been invited as a friend. Later that night, Iboirode reportedly emerged and confessed to the killing.

Bethel’s remains were eventually discovered after Iboirode was arrested in March 2025 for an unrelated murder. During interrogation, he admitted to the earlier crime, bringing long-awaited answers to Bethel’s grieving family.

As justice begins to unfold, the community mourns the loss of a bright young woman whose life was cut short by senseless violence.
